The second, larger version of my earlier post....The Onlookers. What larger paintings lose in spontaneity, they gain in detail. I think I lost a bit of the looseness of the first one here, but that also can come from over-thinking as I'm trying to "reproduce," the earlier painting. I need to remember to put the first aside and make the larger one its own piece. I also lost a bit of the darkest darks on the underside of the tree that the first one had....but I enjoyed the detail I could produce in the tree and I love the subject, so I'm glad to have it larger!

Lovely. With just the right brushstrokes, not only did you successfully capture the weight of the tree, but you also captured the curiosity of the bovines!
This is absolutely beautiful! It is obvious that you grew up and are familiar with the Texas landscape. You really capture it well. I love Texas, and it is one of my goals to express that which is unique to this area . You are already there. 'Love the tree, but what I love more is that cow looking our way. Great personality!

These are all so great... love the white faces of those cows and the bit of highlight on their backs! so simple and so expressive!
