Early Morning Oaks -study

Field Guards, 6 x 8

Oaks often have a way of growing in clusters, as if they're huddling up to discuss something. This group stood smartly in a field, overlooking things.

Nice strong composition and I like the limited palette. I really like oaks too. One of my favorite trees.

You captured the subtleties beautifully, Julie. I'm curious...did you call it a study because you intend to paint this composition in a larger format?

I did, Marilyn. I'm playing around with the sky, and have tried one approach, but may do one more as I kind of prefer this version.

This is just wonderful, Julie. Do you ever teach workshops? - preferrably east of the Mississippi?

Thank you all. In answer to the question about workshops--no, I don't teach, yet. I have three young daughters who are my priority right now. Until they're out of high school, I'm afraid handling my own painting is even a challenge on the best of days! But thank you for asking!
