Comfortable

Comfortable, 6 x 8 in.

Playing with greens and reds together in this one. I've got to work on getting better lighting for my still life set ups--I have light coming from several directions where I paint them, and haven't developed a good way to limit it to one yet, since I rarely painting still lifes.

I'm liking the overall lighting effect . . . it softens the forms and contributes to the gentle feeling you achieve. Love your brushstrokes and color and am so glad to see these still-lifes!

Julie,
I took a workshop with Stanley Bielen a few years ago and he uses a simpe cardboard box with one side cut away and the inside walls painted a dark color. If you put the still life in the box you can control the lighting.
