The Road Home

The Road Home, 12 x 16

A goal I have for this fall is to work larger when I can, and I had the time to do that on this one, so I did a larger version of The Place I Belong--lowering the horizon line a bit to experiment. Here are some photos from the Ashland show, too--I've labeled them below.

Congratulations on your show Julie. I hope you enjoyed every minute of it. I have been scrolling through your blog for awhile now and really enjoy your landscapes. I look forward to seeing more.

JULIE!!! I love seeing these pictures! I so wish I could have come out there for the big event - it looks like everyone was celebrating quite nicely! This larger version turned out great!! Beautiful!

Hi Julie,

I love the painting. Are you starting with a brown ground under the trees. I'm trying to analyze this. The show looks wonderful. Is that you in the bottom picture?

Good for you!

Barbara, it's usually an indian red that I use to tone the canvas, but ironically, this larger one was toned with yellow oxide, just because I had already toned the larger canvas a while back.

Thanks for all the kind words, all---I wish I'd had better photos, but I had a nine-year-old photographer! Think she did fairly well for the amount of direction she was given, which amounted to "take pictures!"
