Cold December Morning

Cold December Morning, 8 x 10

My husband and I took a day trip out to the Hill Country on Friday, and I was able to take some photos here and there. Barns are impossible to pass up, especially those that have been around awhile. Add that to the delicious color of the grasses in the winter, and my bare branch phase right now, and I had a pretty fun composition. This barn was between Johnson City and Fredericksburg.

Beautiful job on this, Julie. You're as good at winter trees as you are the in-season variety — which is saying a lot.

Really nice composition, too.

These bare branches are fantastic, along with the rest of your painting. Also, agree with Stephen about the composition; very well done.

Hi Julie,

I was sitting on top of a high hill in Tuscany having lunch with a tour in an ancient Tuscan farm house with a family from India who lived in Austin Texas, and I thought about the Texan painters whose work I love. Your work came to mind. This is another beauty.

Hi Julie, barns are so beautiful. Once I have seen red barns in New Hampshire. The other day somebody has advertised for a red barn in our papers. They wanted to use it for a photoshoot!I just thought:"A red barn in South Africa? Where will they find that?" Lovely painting and very suitable for a Christmas card. Have a lovely holiday!
